Who we are

Expungement Guide is operated by Curiositech LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We provide educational tools and document-preparation software to help people navigate the expungement process. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice.

Information we collect

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider, Clerk.
  • Form data you provide: When you use our DIY Kit to fill court forms, you provide personal information such as your name, date of birth, case numbers, and other details needed for your petition. This data is used solely to generate your documents.
  • Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit-card number. We receive confirmation of payment status only.
  • Usage analytics: We use PostHog and Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This data is aggregated and not tied to your identity.
  • Communication preferences: If you opt in to SMS reminders, we collect your phone number. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP.

How we use your information

  • Generate and deliver your court documents
  • Send order confirmations and download links by email
  • Send optional process reminders by SMS when you consent
  • Improve the product and the user experience
  • Respond to support inquiries

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption: TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest. Our infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare for the application layer, Supabase for the database, and Cloudflare R2 for document storage. Generated PDFs are encrypted at rest. We retain documents only as long as needed to deliver your order and support your case, and you may request deletion of your data at any time.

Third-party services

We use the following service providers, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Clerk for authentication and account management
  • Stripe for payment processing
  • Resend for transactional email delivery
  • Twilio for opt-in SMS reminders
  • PostHog for product analytics
  • Cloudflare for hosting, CDN, and web analytics
  • Supabase for database hosting

Cookies and your rights

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We also use localStorage to auto-save your form progress so you do not lose your work. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of SMS communications at any time
  • Opt out of analytics tracking

To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@expungement.guide.

Children and policy changes

Our services are not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify registered users by email. The effective date at the top of this page shows when the current version was last revised.
